Authorities on Saturday charged Christopher Vaughn, 32, with two murder counts per victim, saying he gunned down his family in their sport utility vehicle. The killings were discovered June 14 after Vaughn flagged down a motorist on a service road in Channahon, about 40 miles southwest of Chicago.So, if you're scoring at home, this cat shoots his wife and 3 kids twice each on a dusty backroad. Shoots himself in the thigh (with what was proven to be his own gun). Flags a ride and calls 411. Walks for a couple of weeks until the cops finally piece things together and arrest him just before the funeral.
Vaughn, who works as a computer forensic adviser, had been shot in the thigh. His wife, Kimberly, 34, was shot once, while each of their children Abigayle, 12; Cassandra, 11; and Blake, 8 were shot twice. His handgun was found at the scene, authorities said.
Again, why isn't this one all over the cable news networks? Is it because the victims and perp are all white, and such a story doesn't go over well in middle America, because, hey, murdering your own kids is a more of a "black thing"? Is there more to the story, like the mysterious Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom murders, that causes news producers to back off? Who knows?
But one thing's for damn sure: you'll be hearing the name Bobby Cutts alot more than you'll be hearing the name Charles Vaughn.
