Why You Should Never Ask A Rapper About Politricks: Exhibits J-M

I figured that whole "ask a rapper about politics" tip that the MSM was on during the Democratic primaries was merely a passing fad. The joke's on me apparently.

Somebody interrupted Method Man from his afternoon shift at the Sizzler long enough to get his quote on Barry 4 Prez. Hilarity, and idiocy ensue.

Wu-Tang vet Method Man has invited presidential candidate Barack Obama to join him on the streets of Compton in Los Angeles, reports say. The rapper is a big fan of the Democrat but insists that no new president should be allowed to lead the country without visiting the toughest areas of America.

"My people never feel the affects of who changes the world or who’s in office because it never trickles down that low on the scale," he says.

"We don’t feel the President’s power down there (in Compton), we just feel the poverty. Blessings to Obama and the whole Obama click. Hopefully he’ll bring his ass to Compton and walk through the war zone to see what it is.

"Somebody told me, ‘Why would he go there; that’s dangerous.’ That’s why he should go!"
Apparently neither Mr. Meth, nor the inquisitive interviewer has bothered to read Mr. Obama's bio. They'd clearly see the whole "community organizer" and "Southside of Chicago" items. But hey, why let common sense get in the way of a good quote?

Not to be outdone is my favorite (t)rapper, Young Jeezy. Last month, Jeezy and John McCain just happened to be guests on Saturday Night Live, and as with most shows, at the end, all cast members embrace and exchange pleasantries. I happened to watch this episode (because my wife likes Usher for some reason) and also noticed when McCain and Jeezy exchanged words. I wondered exactly what a fake thug and a real thug would have in common.[1]
"No disrespect to my man Barack, but I [bleeped] with John McCain. He greeted me like a god," Jeezy, who has endorsed Barack Obama, tells Vibe magazine. "The fact that he acknowledged me was crazy. I said, 'I'm Young Jeezy, and it's rough out here.' He blew me off at first. I was like, 'Nah, for real. It's rough out here, so what you gonna do to change it?' . . . And he gave me a look back, like, 'I know.' "
Uh, okay, I guess that makes some sense.

Needless to say, after some focus group told Jeezy that endorsing a GOP candidate isn't good for street cred, he backpedaled like Charles Woodson and clarified that he's strictly for Obama.

Not that he'll be voting of course. You know, Systematic Disenfranchisement and whatnot.
