You know how the saying goes: they love you as long as you love them. I saw the Powell/Obama endorsement coming a mile away when his appearance on Meet The Press was announced last week.
That said, even I didn't expect CP to go this hard. Hot dang! Tell em' why you madd, sonn!!
Dude said everything I've ever said in the past, just with 1,000 times more eloquence. Obama is more poised, more intelligent, showed better judgement in appointing a running mate, and that the whole Ayers association is flimsy as dental floss.

I've long heard callers to Conservative radio state that "I'm not racist because I will vote for a Black, just not that Black. If Colin Powell ran, I'd vote for him."
Powell's wife has virtually insured that dude will never run for office, so I can only consider this lengthy and well reasoned endorsement the closest thing.
Wonder if those folks will consider voting for Obama now.

Reality is, folks like Colin Powell and Condi Rice are only good for the GOP as long as they toe the party line. The moment these folks Channel Their Inner Negroes (C.Y.I.N.) and decide to break ranks, they immediately become The America-Hating Enemy. We saw ripples of this when Rice came out earlier this year and stated how impressed she was with Obama and his success in spite of racism, although she didn't endorse him. I've already heard Powell attacked as being "pro-Black instead of Pro-American" on the way home from church today. Fox News is downplaying the effect of this endorsement, even as John McCain just released a list of generals and past Secretaries of State who have endorsed him. One pundit is even marginalizing the job that Powell did as a General.

Colin Powell's decision to endorse Barack Obama has sparked a mini-debate of sorts over both the significance of the endorsement itself and the role that race has and will play during this campaign.Haterz everywhere I go. Predictable, but still sad.
In the immediate aftermath of his appearance on Meet The Press, several prominent GOP officials - ranging from the established to the extreme - defined the announcement more by skin color than ideology.
The most crass interpretation came from talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who wrote the Politico's Jonathan Martin the following:
"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race... OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."
Around the same time, esteemed conservative columnist George Will was also explaining Powell's decision as part of a larger, more psychological sway that Obama held over other African Americans.
There will be "some impact," Will declared. "And I think this adds to my calculation -- this is very hard to measure -- but it seems to me if we had the tools to measure we'd find that Barack Obama gets two votes because he's black for every one he loses because he's black because so much of this country is so eager, a, to feel good about itself by doing this, but more than that to put paid to the whole Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson game of political rhetoric."
If CP has the nerve to actually set foot on the campaign trail, the Secret Service better really be on they J-O.

I only see the personal attacks on Powell intensifying in the coming days, which just goes to prove my point. You either roll with us or get rushed. What have your done for me lately? Get down or lay down!
