808's And Jacka$$es.

One drawback to having a black guy as President is that he becomes The De Facto Spokesperson For All Of Black America, which is almost sorta like being the "only black dude in the office", just on a much bigger scale. As a result, Obama gets inundated with lots of random questions about sh*t that has nothing to do with him, simply because he's Black. He was asked about the Jena Six, Skip Gates, and now, Kanye. And predictably, the President kept it real.
President Obama called musician Kanye West a "jackass" during an interview Monday with CNBC, an ABC News anchor reported to his followers on Twitter. But the tweet caused some red faces at ABC, and the network soon apologized for publicizing what had apparently been an off-the-record comment.

"Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," "Nightline" co-anchor Terry Moran wrote Monday evening. Moran has more than 1 million followers on the microblogging service.

CNBC objected to the post, which was apparently from a portion of the interview that was supposed to be off the record. Moran quickly deleted the comment (although it still can be accessed online), and an ABC spokesperson apologized for the tweet in a statement first posted on Politico.

Moran "prematurely tweeted ... before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again," the spokesperson said.

The president was apparently responding to West's interruption of Taylor Swift after she won an award at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. West took the microphone from Swift to proclaim that Beyonce had a better video than she did.

West later apologized for his actions.
I love that term "prematurely tweeted". Wonder when Pfizer will come out with a pill for that ailment. As if they need more record profits.

Wrong as Kanye is[1] it still sorta bugs me that the President has to be bothered with answering seemingly every random question that involves someone Black. Seriously, was Bush asked about the Sean Bell shooting? The OJ verdict? His opinion on auto-tune? Of course not. Hell, he wasn't even ever asked what he thought about these Blue Collar Comedy Tour douchebags, and whether or not Larry The Cable Guy is the trailerpark equivalent of Tyler Perry.[2] Cause we all know white folks are simply allowed to be representatives of themselves and themselves alone. Not a whole freakin' nation of folks who simply share their skintone and little more.[3]

As sensible as the media would like us to think they are, the fact that they keep bugging the freakin' President about seemingly everything pertaining to random Negroes shows we're still a long ways away from being post-racial?

Question: Why is President Obama seemingly a spokesperson on "all things Black", yet no other President is asked to do the same?

Tweeted and Deleted: Obama Rebukes Kanye West [WashPost]

[1] And I think there's universal agreement that showing up Swift was a true d-bag move, even the Yahoos over at FoxNews.com agree with the President for once. Scary.

[2] And for the record, I say Larry The Cable Guy is twenty times worse than Madea. It's like Ernest from those sh*tty 1980's jailhouse comedies, all over again.

[3] Want some irony with your commute? Family members and friends say I resemble Kanye.
