I'll let ya'll in on a not-so-well-kept secret: I actually like Fox News and watch it pretty frequently. Laugh all you want, but there really isn't a better morning show than Fox & Friends. It's basically the journalistic equivalent of breakfast junk food, a Sausage, Egg, & Cheese McGriddle minus the love handles. Yes, it's pure propaganda, yes the hosts are complete and total dimwits, and yes, it occasionally pisses me off. But it's just entertainment, not real news. I also get pissed off watching The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. What's the difference?
Of course, millions of people aren't in on the joke, and actually assume Fox News is really "fair and balanced". Truth is, there's not a single minute of programming on Fox that is actually "fair and balanced". Even their alleged "straight news" shows are partisan. They can't even fake it, despite what their corporate motto might suggest.
That said, this latest story is no surprise at all.
Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association (RGA) this year, Bloomberg reported. The company owns Fox News and the New York Post.I can already hear howling pundits claiming that the fact that Fox gives to both parties is proof that there's no bias. As if. It's called hedging your bets. It's not a new concept.[1]
The filings show that the RGA raised $58 million between Jan. 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010. The Democratic Governors Association raised $40 million during the same period.
A man needs cheap rolex watches when his notebook is out of order. A woman likes cheap movado watches where cheap diesel watches & tiffany watches sale are available. She also wants pendants without any cost.
News Corp's Political Action Committee, News America-Fox PAC, has given to Democrats and Republicans, but in far smaller sums, Yahoo's Michael Calderone reports: "The PAC has given $48,000 to Democrats running for House seats this year and $40,700 to Republicans. In Senate races, the PAC contributed $30,500 to Democrats and $25,500 to Republicans."
So, I guess the cat's totally out of the bag now.
