It's a rare day when you find me applauding a rapper for much of anything, but I have to give props where they're due. I have no idea what sort of parent takes/allows someone to take their child to a Plies concert. Yes, this comes from a guy whose Mom took him to his first rap concert (The Fat Boys). Still, it seems reasonable to me that any parent worth his/her Lawry's would know that Plies is hardly Lil' Bow Wow. Hell, Bow Wow ain't even Lil' Bow Wow no more.
That said, give credit where it's due. The man wanted to perform his X-rated catalog (including my current favorite, "Gimme Dat' Becky") with his morals intact, and couldn't do so knowing an impressionable tween was in the midst. So, what's the sensible, college educated cRapper to do? Why, stop the show, and offer the kid $1,000 to leave, of course. Fast forward to the 1:30 mark if you want to spare your ears the wrath of the Ft. Myers' Finest.
Just in case you're wondering why he paid the kid to leave, here's the song he performed the minute she hit the parking lot.
Call it what you want, but I prefer to call this classy. As much as Plies' cRap persona is an obvious fabrication (again, the guy went to college on an academic scholarship), and his gangster has been called into question lately, it's refreshing to see a grown man behave like one. This almost makes up for that Goonette reality show, and that Bust It Baby nonsense. Almost.
As for this young lady's "parents", well...
Question: If you're a parent with tweenaged kids, where do you draw the line in terms of the type of music you allow them to purchase and/or listen to? Does Plies deserve some credit for asking the child to leave this concern?
